Some Call Us Balkans (SCUB) is a cultural cooperation project co-funded by the European Union, forming a transdisciplinary research and community that aims to collectively create knowledge and reimagine the Balkans beyond borders and nationalisms.
SCUB implements participatory art-based research to deconstruct myths and misconceptions about the Balkans, building bridges for cross-border cooperation, sociocultural transformation and co-creation.
The research is conducted in six different Balkan sites and communities, evolving around three main research streams: Commons and right to the city, Cultural heritage and cultural practices, Migration and labour.
The outcome of SCUB will be the co-creation of a mobile forum that will travel crossing all partners' locations with the objective of reclaiming the term Balkan beyond stereotypes, envisioning new ecologies, modes of inhabiting the Balkans and coming together on a common ground.
